It's not a new video for the Apple iPad. It's the HP approach to tablet technology. The PC vendor released videos detailing why it believes its tablet product - Slate - is better than Apple's iPad.

Apple releases the iPad on April 3, but the Slate will not be released until later in 2010. eWeek.com says arriving in the market second may actually benefit HP.
"Since Apple showed its hand by publicizing iPad’s features, HP can go back to the drawing board and improve the Slate to offer features missing from the Apple device. Thanks to a delayed launch, the Slate might be everything the iPad is—and isn't."
Flash capabilities and Adobe support are features the Slate will have that the iPad will not. But on MSNBC, a CNet editor says these capabilities will not necessarily make the Slate better.

"I've tested a lot of these other tablets of other companies and they don't quiet have that ease of use that you get with like your iPhone or your iPod touch and that's sort the same sort of touch interfaced that the iPad is going to have. I think it's going to have a much better chance of hooking consumers. It's easy to use, you kind of of just touch it, move stuff around and it works really simply."

Critics may be wrong to compare the two tablet products. PC World says each platform has a unique functionality and targets different audiences.

"Comparing the HP Slate against the Apple iPad... is like comparing a Jeep Cherokee to a Chevy Camaro based on which one supports Sirius satellite radio. In both cases the comparison is between objects with completely different audiences."

And there is still debate whether consumers will really jump to purchase the tablets. Time's Techland predicts only a company with Apple's popularity will be able to drive consumers to buy.

"The Tablet - I tend to be a skeptic about it. There has really been no demonstrable consumer demand for this product that has been the flavor of the decade. You know if anybody can create demand for something that nobody realized they wanted, it's Apple. But it is going to take Apple to do that. Microsoft can't do that."
